one thing i like about combat flight sims that other games don't really provide is it provides wind-down/cool-down time; i.e. returning to base, landing the plane, and shutting it down.

there's a tranquility and feeling of achivement to coming back from a long sortie, pylons empty and all but the last bits of the tank naught but fumes, falling into the pattern, touching down, taxiing to parking, and clicking on switches to shut your bird down.

the gentle buzz of the inverters coming to a halt as you cut the last of the electrics and the change in the audio as you pop the canopy, the silence interrupted only by the roaring engines of passing friendlies taking off on their sorties.

... oops did i get poetic with that

Hehehe, I'm a cold warrior through and through, and the Balalaika is where I fell in love, so she'll always have a place in my heart- usually in the F1 these days, though I fly the 16 when threats are bigger than "there might be a shilka somewhere", so I feel you!

Hell yeah, same!! We out here in the cockpit growling and yapping and roaring....
