Given my recent experiences, I need a software license that means
- people doing cool weird stuff can use it and not worry too much
- nobody could seriously mistake it for being open source
- corporations can't use it
- AI language models can't use it
- people who are desperate to know why it's not under a real license can't use it
BIG BILL HELL'S LICENSE is pretty great but it makes promises I can't deliver on.
So I think that the next project I start is going to be under the Be Gay Do Crimes license.
edit: I would change the usual clause about "copies or substantial portions of the software" to say "copies of any portion of the software, no matter how small", which is way overreaching but most importantly it causes problems for AIs
