Prepping for a Christmas party! Baked this gingerbread cake from the King Arthur book. (A favorite this year.) It required making homemade ginger syrup which reminded me, once again, that cooking with sugar on a stovetop is a nightmare. But now I can make homemade ginger ale whenever I want!*
We also made these beef/venison meatballs last minute. My great aunt used to bring meatballs made with this chili-grape jelly sauce every year, and my parents randomly had a bunch of frozen ground venison from some aquatience, so we did a twist on it with chili sauce, cranberry preserves, and lime. It's actually extremely good!
