Every Christmas I ask for books and every year I am a happy giftee. Love Letters was gifted to me by my partner, inspired by a post on this very website! As for the rest:

Iron Widow and The Good Luck Girls are both pretty unknown to me, but I asked for book recs on twitter and my good friend Niara suggested these. She knew me back when I was reading Haruhi Suzumiya light novels in the community college library, so I trust her intuition. I would suggest she jump on Cohost, but her first and last lover be the sea.*

I've been a fan of Nathan Rabin's writing for almost 15 years at this point, and a fan of Weird Al for longer, so it seemed like a natural fit. I told my Mom that any edition of the book was fine cause there's, like, a bunch at this point so she went with the original. I will have to imagine Mr. Rabin's takes on the Weird Al movie myself. (Probably more positive than mine, though as time passes I think I was maybe too harsh.)

The Nutmeg's Curse is a highly reccommended nonfiction book about the caustic and lasting effects of colonialism, allowing me to make my "books that will make you feel bad but you really should engage with this stuff directly, y'know?" quota.

I saw HIR years ago at Playwrights Horizons, about the same time I saw the Fun Home musical. No idea how it holds up but interested to see how it's take on then contemporary queer culture holds up. Hey, speaking of Fun Home...

...I have somehow never really read Dykes To Watch Out For, despite being a massive Bechdel fan! God I am thrilled to dive into this, this is a little bit of a white whale for me!
