perhaps a bit tired, it's true. However, I don't think it's really any worse then Christopher Robin, that 2018 movie starring Ewan McGregor where he is a depressed dad in his 40s dealing with his fucked messed up life by imagining animal friends.* Part of the deal with the public domain is that the property doesn't really belong to anybody anymore, and it can allow for these kind of obvious cash ins. This is a good thing! I rather have something in bad taste then something doing the same idea with board approved mediocrity.
Not that I am clamoring to see this particular thing, but the way the same people who laugh at incels declaring a jihad on Kathleen Kennedy for ruining Star Wars turn around and do the same "MY CHILDHOOD IS RUINED!!" routine with this nothingburger is pretty funny. Just don't watch it, or write your own stupid take on Christopher Robin (a character I wouldn't exactly point to as a rich well to draw from), or go cry over The House at Pooh Corner while lamenting your lost youth. But it'll be fine, Pooh is all of ours now.
*Also, shit, it's crazy Alex Ross Perry was one of the co-writers on that movie. He must have been so pissed watching the premiere of that, and meanwhile David Lowery is getting praised for fucking Pete's Dragon, of all things. Or he just took the dumptruck full of money they gave him and whistled his way to the bank. God, how do I get these kind of gigs?
