There is this Balkan restaurant close to our apartment which has Wimpy from Popeye outside it, so of course I had to go. The place sells these mixed meat patties on pita bread that they call burgers here (pljeskavica is Serbian) and I did a little research and it turns out they are well regarded! I had one of the burgers served with kaymak (this kinda cream cheese/sour cream like spread) and ajvar (a pulverized pepper and eggplant condiment) and my partner got this massive sausage on a pita with kaymak called kobasica. It was all extremely good! I was a dumb dumb and didn't take any pictures of the food but here is a plkeskavica:

These are massive btw, when he pulled one of the patties out of the fridge to fry it was the size of a frisbee. Next time I want to try the karađorđeva, which is a fried and stuffed schnitzel. Shout out to Wimpy from Popeye actually being an effective advertising strategy to exactly one person in Queens (me).
They also had this drink called Cockta, which I believe is a rose hip flavored soda that I got cause it has Cock in the name. I drank it before taking a picture but here is the empty bottle with the closest approximation of the drink's color that I could do using my phone markup. (It looks like a coke).

Thank you Popeye's surprising reach in Eastern Europe, and thank you Peter Eater.
(Also apparently in the Balkans, Wimpy is named Peter, in case you were confused. But between giant sausages and Cockta maybe it is an elaborate dick joke, in which case I will goddamn invest in this place.)
