the thing about a lot of rationalists is that, through thinking intelligence is generalizable even without much background, and because they expect everyone they talk to as peers to just look up the terms they use, they keep tricking each other into supporting things that are like, on the axis of scientific-racism because enough people have written blogs about it that no one really like, thinks about the whole and realizes until they're already believing it

and who better to manipulate than the people who think they're infallible through their constant vigilance?

sure there are some rationalists who are good and alert but like, you're such a small minority that it's almost not even worth the column-inches to disclaim that.

i've seen too many people buddy up with nazi dogwhistle guys to be giving the benefit of the doubt, and it feels like everyone forgets that every four months, and it kinda just sucks to be on the edges of extended circles that gravitate towards there because like, c'mon there's been a decade to learn the lesson that keeps repeating

fortunately, the label acts as a Great Filter
