Lots of rumors that their games are coming to PlayStation, and that their big new IPs like Call of Duty won't be coming to Gamepass.

I don't know if this is really the beginning of the end for them or whatever but it feels like an emergency button is being pressed.

Oh, is that all? I was thinking they made some big dumb decision like a couple years ago when they tried to skyrocket the price of Xbox live and had to back down.

Far as I'm concerned, the fewer exclusives, the better for everyone.

"Far as I'm concerned, the fewer exclusives, the better for everyone."

100% Disagree.

Exclusives are good for competition which gives is good for business which in turn is more money for new games. Also competition can lead to more originality and better use of hardware.

A bit contradicting there. Then what games should be exclusives if not first party games??
Both games are system sellers (GP got new subscribers due to Starfield. How many I do not know).
R&C:RA would be a huge letdown on XsX because of the lack of Dualsense features. The devs did a damn fine job on that and is actually one of the games with best use of it. It's a delight. (Then again Starfield could be a bit better with it xD)

Of course it would be nice for those who can't afford several consoles/GPC, but would be a bit boring of there was no competition to come up with new ideas, both in software and hardware and that's what the competition is good for.

I am pretty sure that without Nintendo and Mario there would be no Sega and Sonic, or if the N64 wouldn't have had an analogue stick the PS might never have gotten any, just to make some old-school examples.

Ratchet & Clank isn't profitable. It only exists as a vehicle to bring people into the PS5 ecosystem, alongside Sony's other first party lineup.

When people buy PlayStations they buy third party games, mtx, subscriptions, accessories, etc. That's how you make your money, and why Sony doesn't put these games on Xbox. Nintendo uses a similar model but they don't rely on third party revenue as much because their first party exclusives are more profitable.

If you don't do that, people don't buy into your closed ecosystems. See: Wii U, Vita, Dreamcast, etc.
