A personal part of my experience with Chrono Trigger is that I accidentally bought it.

I meant to buy FF anthology for ps1, but bought FF Chronicles. Looking at the cover I'm not sure how. I couldn't have been older than 9 so.

Instead of new FF games I got FF4, which I already owned and some game I never heard of that's not even an FF! Who even made this thing??

'oh shit, this game seems really cool?'

This sort of thing could happen all the time back in the day, partially cause I was younger.

I think the last time I got such a pleasant surprise was when I started playing Falcom games like Ys 8 and Trails in the sky.

Feel free to share any occurrences like this new and old!

When I was a kid we would rent movies from MoOovie Time (how the hell did they go out of business with a name like that). If I was really lucky, I'd also get to rent a game!

Once I rented Mario Kart for PlayStation - pretty fuckin dope, right? Except no, because what I rented was Mario Andretti racing. I was sad.

I went into a local game shop to buy castlevania chronicles and the shop owner recommended I buy Symphony of the night. I never heard of it. I didn’t think it was a Castlevania game when he brought it up.
Needless to say I took his recommendation and played Sotn. What a experience. I am so thankful for him.
