since apparently they are the new canon going forward. It's absolutely wild the scenes they've chosen to keep, and the ones they've chosen to omit.
Like the whole sequence where Nina first meets Euphemia, while they're being held hostage by terrorists? The one with extensive actions scenes, and the building collapsing? Gone, aside from a quick visual reference in a montage.
By they kept the fucking PIZZA episode.
I just finished R2 and am almost done with akito and plan to watch the movies soon. I thought s1 was my fave so far but plan to watch the movies for the same reason you are: that's the continuity. I am curious to see what they changed, though!
