This was my favorite part of the day. As soon as the drag show ended, most of the crowd cleared out. The band had been setting up in the background for a while, but it seems like most people weren't interested in hanging around any longer. A lot of them had probably been there since before noon, and it was about 5pm. And in the singer's own words, you can't blame them when it's over 100F out there.

But yall, this band was so worth sticking around for. They're called Kelany and the All Nighters. They did a bunch of rock and sort of funky covers of some popular pride-adjacent songs. Vocalist was so good. I have a couple recordings, but they don't do her voice justice. Thoroughly enjoyed sitting on a concrete slab and jamming for another hour. In a way, I'm actually glad the crowd had mostly dissipated. It created a very personal atmosphere. The band played their hearts out, and they were doing it just for us, the dedicated few who remained.

Afterwards I got to talk to the vocalist, Kelany herself! She's super cool, very friendly. Even posed for a picture with me. And exchanged numbers. So I really hope I'll get to see her around at some point. Man, going to this not-exactly-small-town-but-still-not-a-city pride fest was a great decision. These are my people. I couldn't be happier to be among them.
