Sometimes I wonder if part of my obsession w/ being like, fine detail oriented on fake mecha science and parts has to do with getting this book when I was like, 5 years old? The same book that, when Phantom Menace dropped, made me like 'oh Darth Maul's Lightsaber is like Exar Kun's!' and nobody knew what the fuck I was on about.

I didn't even read EU books I just knew shit because of this book, it's just amusing to me in retrospect. Fun art in it. But yeah I think this is what made me obsess with fictional technology for a while, and what made it so when my primary interest shifted to mecha, I adored digging up all the fancy mechanical designer art, especially when artists were doing stuff like this.

Oh shit, these books were so good. They made a bunch for different subjects. I think I had the one for planets, and at some point I saw one for ships. Just endless minutia for our baby nerd minds.

God, this book and the matching ones for ships, places, and characters were my fucking shit as a kid. I knew them all by heart, and they got me to read most of the EU books.
