It's too quiet and boring and it feels like it's just the same popular Twitter accounts doing the same gimmicks over there except they have less of an audience over there but also they dominate my feed since they're like the only people using the site. Also a bunch of writers. It's like I somehow got allowed into a private Linkedin for people whose job it is to be online.

EDIT: There are two kinds of accounts that I usually see.

  • the ones that have like 50k+ or whatever Twitter followers that people like because they say the funny thing and maybe they're somewhat left-leaning but you have this feeling they're just earning social clout to cash out in the future
  • Giant Bomb alumni

The latter is weird to me and definitely makes it feel like I'm in some kind of weird Linkedin for a small group of people tied to a very specific career field.

It's still not infested with the most brain-damaged alt-right dipshits paying $8 to make sure you can see their terrible takes and block them. However, it IS infested with all the same clout-chasers and folks that want to be those clout-chasers. Some of those clout-chasers are the sorts who built their entire brand on dunking on the most brain-damaged alt-right dipshits paying $8 to make sure you can see their terrible takes and block them. However, because those folks aren't found in Bluesky yet, they have changed their focus to anybody they can bully and get away with, within the safe confines of acceptable online white American liberalism. Mostly it's white liberals complaining that the not-white leftists are being mean and are potentially actually right wing plants so they'll sick their 10k+ followers on them.

Even if you can avoid those clout-chasers, the site is mostly just kind of empty of folks I usually interact with, so it's pretty lonely.
