Tentatively I may have repaired/revived my old surface device? The one I spilt soda over accidentally back in late 2019

I'll provide updates if this thing is actually functional... but if it is that would be one hec of a win

Update: The top tablet portion just works, is 100% functional and now completely up to date

The keyboard performance base however (this is a surface book 2 with the gtx1050 in the base)... well it was intermittent, then there was a fizzle, then the smell of electrical fire and then a slight hotspot...

So yeah 90% certain that's FUBAR bweh

Good news, I have the important part of the Surface Book working

Bad news, it has no ports, 20% of it's total battery life and lacks all use as a laptop, due to no working base.

Also looking into buying a replacement (the only option) I'd be looking at buying a whole new SB2 here in Aus at like $600-$900aud... so I don't really think that's worth it

in reply to @MewMus's post:

The thing is basically unrepairable

The entire base is held together with thick black glue that is difficult to remove, even with the right tools combined with the fact that there is no iFixIt tear down means self repair is certainly beyond my capabilities

The only place I found who have the tools and actually advertise that they will do a repair anywhere near me in Aus, wants to charge $600 for the service, which is the cost of a new unit... so yeah I'm not doing that either
