they could have done that before. chatGPT doesn't actually change anything. Don't you have an academic integrity policy?

also the teachers are using it to generate exams, so why not just let the sham arms race to the bottom run?

Students cheating is a failing of professorship, either your instruction, your workload, or others' workload. And/or students finding other things more worth their time while paying a lot to be there. which is still a failing of professorship.

I get that it's a hard thing to nail but the times are changing, change with them instead of teaching a style that hasn't changed since 1987.

Hi yes I would like to give a very specific fuck you to the professor I had that made me drive to campus to take a final for my online programming class so that I could write lines of Java on a piece of paper with a fucking pencil.

Shout out to the professor who made us work in a scripting language their friend had designed that had almost no documentation. That we couldn't run on any computer but the ones in a specific lab on the other side of the campus from where all our other classes where (and was all already an hour and a half away by bus). That had the audacity to make this compulsory part of our course worth 50% of our grade and didn't even teach us the basics of programming despite us all being arts students. But no, we where supposed to somehow make simulated visual masterpieces in this broken ass version of python by spending all our time in a math's lab. This post brought all this back... No fucking wonder I dropped out of university.

I've attempted Tertiary education 3 times in my life, and every time I wasted my money and time while having my personal autonomy and intelligence insulted.

I'm confident that for some fields of study, it's likely still a "fine" system, but for the arts, it's just a scam. I learnt more in half a year of diving right into doing art as a living than I did in a combined 2 and a half years of uni.
