Day 3 of of my Linux testing as part of The Tradition
Firstly I finally sticker-bombed the side of my computer with cute furry stuff!
Which I think overall is a total win and regardless of the tradition makes everything feel cozier~
More importantly today I made some pretty major changes!
Firstly I am no longer using Gnome as my desktop environment and have moved over to KDE for now
Whilst I'm not as fond of how KDE feels it has the key advantage of actually supporting my graphics tablet, something gnome straight up can't atm. Thankfully that fully solved issue three of yesterday's issues and I'm all good to draw again!
An unexpected advantage of the switch to KDE as well is that it routes pipewire better which low and behold means that I now have screen sharing with audio in Discord!
It's not perfect and I don't have as much control as I'd like, but after a fair bit of testing today I can say that it works which is huge for potentially staying on Linux at the end of this week as this is no longer a deal breaker!
Now I still can't run Wayland for a snappier desktop and better graphics performance because Nvidia is garbage, but at least my 1070 is working serviceability enough atm so that I can just deal with it until I upgrade my hardware sometimes in the new year
An unexpected win of today though was that I managed to get Clip Studio Paint working perfectly on the system. Now I may have moved to Krita full time for my drawing, but having access to CSP is huge for being able to open my archive of old works all saved in its format.
Overall this is the most optimistic I've felt by the eve of day 4 of the tradition since around 2010, I'm going to be streaming art for most of tomorrow which I hope goes well, but we shall see!
Thanks for reading and sticking with me through all this, have a good day/evening~
