When I was a kid, I edited the desktop background on a PC sitting in a hotel lobby to have a pink stripe to make people think that the monitor was dying. I felt like a prank mastermind, but I doubt anybody ever noticed.
in jr high i wrote a QBASIC program to scroll the text "beeflord was here" in rainbow colors but i forgot to put in a keyboard interrupt. they didn't know about CTRL+Break so the library was down for hours and i got in big trouble (they correctly guessed that it was me)
