oh shit i forgot the new milgram song came out last night

Mikoto has been one of those characters that I feel could easily fall into maybe really oudated tropes about DID (I guess he does still kind of) so I get a little worried about whenever new stuff with him pops up and people start the discussion all over again.

Obviously it's not rly my place to pass judgement of whether his inclusion of his more passive self vs very violent alter is good or bad though, so we'll see how the story unfolds + his Guilty or Innocent vote for this round.

in reply to @MintyWyvern's post:

he's at 77% innocent atm which is... kind of interesting? mostly in that the vast majority have been voted inno thus far- which, granted, the team's been doing really well at making sympathetic characters (even babygirl mu ms 75% guilty), but it's been interesting watching the difference between, like... emotionally guilty vs literally guilty and how different characters seem to elicit different reactions from the audience, most notably futa vs kotoko, but it can really be applied to everyone! and it seems like this time around mikoto was portrayed sympathetically enough that he gets a softer treatment.

because of that exact portrayal of DID you mentioned though I'm a little anxious about what might happen in s3, especially if he does get an innocent vote? since, while it's ultimately about showing the full story, it does seem like the characters portrayal following a vote is intended to try to sway you the opposite way just a bit, regardless of if it works or not, and it'd be really shitty to further villainize the concept

Oh yeah this round of voting has been super interesting. Props to the team for completely turning everyone's heads with the storytelling direction in each mv (honestly, they experimented a lot with the mv styles this time around. I hope they keep pushing that for round 3, the quality has been so cool to see!)

And yeah sjdf;s I rly like what milgram has been going for for most of these cases but there are some that have me worried for what it implies for the portrayal of real life mental health issues ( this is mostly bc of the way Haruka and Mikoto are portrayed.) as well as like, there's straight up characters in here that I don't understand WHY they're there and WHY their crime is being equated to like, someone actually murdering someone in cold blood (Yuno's situation specifically makes me upset bc it seems that her biggest crime is getting an abortion because she's a sex worker.... as you can imagine or have seen there has been uhh some weird ass discussions about her unfortunately aughhh. Same with Amane too like, that's a little girl who's life situation is incredibly unique and messed up I am annoyed that ppl voted her guilty in the first place sdjf;dsj )

the mvs are SO good the baton twirling in amane's had me completely entranced and the, like, sudden alien movement of the bug girls in mu's made me rewatch it several times ;;; the like, du du du! noise that accompanies it really makes it too tbh

GOD I know what you mean. I was so entirely pissed off when amane got voted guilty because like?? she's like 6?? and in a cult??? she deserves therapy and a hug not prison!! yuno's too for the exact reasons you've mentioned, though I do at least appreciate that the majority was absolutely not putting up with that LMAO. they tried to make her seem worse in s2 by being all ~oo but she doesn't care about your judgement ooo~ and everyone was like yeah :) you shouldn't :) it doesn't entirely make up for the bad actors it brought to the surface but it's heartening to see in some way

haruka and mikoto are each tragedies in their own right, both with how they're portrayed and the stories they're trying to tell. I'm glad people have stopped the whole stupid fucking 'guilty to teach them a lesson!!!' thing that they were doing in s1 (I wasn't there for it but I read about it and it pissed me off LMAO) but it's resulted in a lot of skewed and contradictory voting that, while it might be too deep, I'm a little worried might give people the wrong impression? especially if they're personally suffering with mental health in the same way (albeit not as... violently, ig) that some of the characters are. seeing them get dogpiled surely can't be good.

the milgram team is generally really good! and I know it's difficult to have conversations about morality when they're semi-sensationalized like they kind of have to be in an vocaloid-adjacent/anime/fantastical theme, I just hope it doesn't get toooo bad

edit: holy shit I wrote a lot sorry LMAO I just love this series

SDFJSD; IT'S OK! I love discussing stuff like this sdfj;sdfj so no worries!

I'm glad ppl aren't putting up with the way the framing was done in Yuno's 2nd mv jsd;fds the song slaps but man the way the team tried to present Yuno's case rly rubbed me the wrong way :') she's done nothing wrong other than literally do her job and do what's best for her!

HONESTLY YEAH.... round 1 voting seemed like everyone was just watering down voting to who's more right and who's more wrong which is so weird considering they laid out the rules pretty clearly early on in the project sdj;fdsj ah well, internet will internet. i'm glad I only discovered milgram at the beginning of the round 2 mvs lmfao. I'm not like, as invested fandom-wise for it but I really enjoy stumbling upon people's theories and seeing how much people have either translated or put together (especially since the official subtitles on the mvs have been extremely lacking. I wish they translated the text on some of the mvs too. I've missed SO MUCH bc none of the text stuff of the mvs is officially translated on the mvs themselves :/ )

I probably shouldn't like, judge how the team is portraying some of the messier topics in the project bc yeah, milgram definitely leans a liiiitle bit more towards edgy in terms of the project as a whole but I still worry about for the portrayals in it.

I can't complain too much about the songs themselves though, they're way too good!

Unfortunately I think "we need to teach them a lesson" got replaced with "ok but surely this time a guilty vote will help because if they're restrained they won't be able to hurt themselves/others" which got used against the already unstable Haruka (aka recreating how his mother abandoned him once he became inconvenient) and now being used against Amane despite the fact she's already been through so much and Shidou is a grown man with a body guard

yeah people trying to meta it got so fucking stupid. it's unfortunate to hear that it's kinda just been getting worse?? poor girl did not deserve absolutely ANYTHING she's gotten thus far, and while she's an incredibly well written and compelling character despite it, it's so shitty. esp with how avoidable it is

I know a bunch of people with DiD (come here @kayano) and they still like Mikoto, obviously everyone's going to have a different opinion but I think John is a bit of an unreliable narrator due to being kind of new (he also seems to be throwing himself under the bus a lot to protect Mikoto)
Like, Double depicts completely different stuff from MeMe and I think its a lot more metaphorical than 'So John just killed a bunch of people on a train randomly' (like Mikoto's crime scene is an area outside the train station and both the MeMe murders seem to happen)

As for the 77% inno... well I've got no clue other than people are totally blindsided and aimless and when unsure lean towards forgiving (which is what happened to T1 Kazui and Haruka)

I just hope Amane's going to stay inno, she's dropping closer to 50% every day 😱

SHE'S STILL DROPPING?? SHE'S A CHILD??? oh my god 😱

and oohh I see! I'm glad I can see different perspectives from ppl with DiD (I don't have DiD myself but i've seen a couple conversations that seem to be a bit mixed on Mikoto(at least on twitter back when i used it more often... but it's also twitter so i don't know /o),

I like Mikoto a lot too so I'm like 🙏 be nice to the boy @ milgram audience

Man voting for milgram has been so.. .all over the place.

A lot of people really are convinced being guilty will stop her attacking Shidou... Personally I think either way she's attacking him so we might as well at least lift the mental strain

If anything, I think there's an outside chance that reducing her burden could make her feel more forgiving so she'll attack a non-vital point or something
I'm also not the biggest Shidou fan so I don't really care about his wellbeing as much as Amane's 😅
Sorry Dr Malpractice~

That being said apparently there's a contingent who really want to 50/50 her....

i feel like the ppl voting guilty still have already forgotten the several warnings we got abt voting like that. mannnn

I feel like any child would open up a little more if they receive support rather than be punished wtf. ppl are being silly.

I feel very neutral on shidou. I liked both of his songs a lot but i'm also like "yeah idc if his wife and kids died, this guy needs to be locked up" sdjf;s
