I found this really nice video on how to set up a little warning via obs for people watching your stream that an add is about to happen.

I really want to implement this into the stream to warn people when ads are popping up without me having to constantly pay attention to when an ad is starting but twitch's options are so.... terrible LOL

The way to get rid of pre-rolls for everyone is to run a minute and thirty second ad every 30 minutes but... that's so.... that's so annoying!!

The option that most appeals to me bc it seems the less intrusive is the ad option where i have an ad run every hour instead but.... it's a 3 minute ad instead which is.... also pretty annoying. UGH

I'm kind of left wondering if I should keep the ad break to be every hour, but it plays a 3 minute ad and people tuning in get some pre-rolls, or if I should do the most annoying twitch thing of having a 90 second ad play every 30 minutes but people new to the stream get no ads.

If I'm being honest I really don't mind playing ads every hour, I just wish they weren't 3 minutes ugh. I guess the smartest thing to do would be to make sure I try and schedule short breaks every hour (honestly probably a healthy choice) and make sure to play ads if I go afk so it pushes back the ads schedule hmm.....

Idk if anyone does something like this and what they think of it, any suggestions?

Update to this a little bit:

I think what I'll do is try this out in streams where I do stuff like Minecraft or art streams where there's less likely stuff that people miss with ads (I hope) and try to be better about hitting ads during breaks on other streams I think.

I tried it out last night on minecraft and kind of felt eehhh about it?

I don't have a stream deck, but i do use my phone + touch portal as one. Maybe I can do that and set up a shortcut whenever I go afk to automatically hide my png/mute myself/ and play an ad while im gone? that might work I think as long as I remember to do it.

The biggest problem with me and trying to space these out is actually trying to remember to hit the ad button when i get up (and taking breaks in general tbh) so trying to schedule them really appeals to me but ugh 3 minute ads.... are still annoying

in reply to @MintyWyvern's post:

I like having them on a schedule because I am definitely going to forget to play any ads (the past two months i keep telling myself im going to play an ad when i get up but i forget aaaaaaaaaa) Maybe I should set up a timer in that case? I unfortunately use my phone as my steam deck so i'd have to either remember to set them up on desktop or like, buy a cheapo timer to have next to me when I stream hmm
