Mech Pilot who is in love with the voids you do not show them.

There are two things you need to know if you're going to be an engineer on this ship: 1. Mackenzie will never love you or me or anyone else on this ship as much as she's in love with the thing powering her mech, 2. You must never - under any circumstances - let Mackenzie see what's powering her mech.

Now, you may remember from your schooling that there's nothing inherently dangerous about this tech for either of us. Void-engines are completely safe in the proper hands. The problem is these pilots. They get attached to their mechs. They humanize the vehicles. They become convinced that there's an entity that binds the mechanical systems they physically interact with, and they think they've formed a relationship with that imagined entity. They do not follow the safety protocols of handling Void-engine components.

If you let a pilot like Mackenzie be exposed to the Void-engine in her mech, she will do everything in her power to crack it open and become consumed by the Void. It's not a rational response, but I've seen pilots like her have to get sedated and taken away on gurneys when their engineers got careless. I don't want to have that happen again.
