"You wanna come back with? I got the station all ready."
"Yeah. Just give me a minute here, I'm so sorry."
"Happens all the time, suga, I ain't in no rush."

Jennifer looked at the six eyed bog serphent that was her current Summer-fling turned serious boyfriend. He was cute for a basilisk and had such a kind heart, but he also was overdue for a Tetanus booster. He also wasn't deterred by his size enough to avoid jamming his 8 foot long hexapodal snake-like body beneath several waiting room chairs. If basilisks weren't so common in the Everglades, it'd probably be more of a scene. As it was, an old lady and her husband were petting and soothing Sothok as he trembled beneath them. Not minding that their chairs were three feet from the ground.

"J-jennifer... You're g-gonna go in with me r-right?", pleaded the massive lizard capable of swallowing an entire man whole with the snap of his terrifying jaws.

"Of course sweetie, I'll be with you every step of the way, I promise.", if he wasn't such an innocent sweetheart, Jennifer wouldn't be so nice. Basilisk's aren't supposed to have full blown GAD, but the last two years of dating had taught her Sothok was an exception to every rule. He was smart, quiet, creative, he even went to college (not a first for naturalized cryptid citizens, but rare for basilisks), and they started dating because they both played a lot of the same games online.

But the state was leaning on her to get his vaccines up to date, it's a requirement to maintain his healthcare after all. Controversially, being virtually bullet proof IRL doesn't make one unafraid of needles. She could read him pretty well by now, Sothok so desperately wanted to go home and that rattle in his tail meant "please hold me". She did her usual routine to help him calm down, resting his massive head in her lap as she gently sang "Sweet Home Alabama", and massaged behind his jaws. When he finally stopped shaking and that rumbling pur started, she knew she could finally get him to gently slide out from under the chairs. The appointment wasn't going to be so bad, but it is a sight to behold to see a Basilisk spooked about needles like they were a normal human.
