Demon who is, against their better judgement, breaking up with your girlfriend for you.
Synthetic pile abruptly discolours, shrivels, burns; a room-sized summoning circle sears itself into the office-bland carpet tiles. A burning hole wrenches downward in the centre of it, backlit by flame; faint howling echoes below. A horned figure rises smoothly from the pit, motionless, arms folded and head down, chin on chest; the ripped-away surface springs back up from the depths just in time to support the soles of the figure's feet, as they reach level with the smouldering floor.
The head rises, dark gaze spearing that of the room's other occupant as she cowers behind her desk, telephone handset falling from her shaking hand.
"Xurbith," the newcomer rasps. "Demon of Hell," and strides forward on powerful, sleekly scaled legs the colour of hot tar, to extend a business card. "Wait, you're not vegan, are you?" she adds as an afterthought, twitching the card back a little. "You don't want this if you're vegan."
Susan makes a strangled noise.
"Here's the situation, Susan," Xurbith says. "Earlier this evening, I was summoned from Hell by a client willing to trade their soul for a succubus to assume your likeness, smile at them, tell them in your voice that you love them, and have some frankly pedestrian sex. And you might think it'd be that little paralegal you keep flirting with, or one of the senior partners with an itch to scratch and a concern about HR getting on their case again, but I couldn't help but notice it was your own wife, who's just that brokenly despairing you'll ever actually come home from work and pay her more attention than the furniture."
"What did you do to—" Susan starts in a panicky way.
"Your wife's at the demon-summoning stage just to have somebody smile at her, Susan, it's a bit late for that attitude," Xurbith says, and looms across the desk. "We worked out an arrangement. She asks for a divorce...."
Xurbith smiles, slow and wide and full of sharp points.
"...And if her cold shark neglectful laywer wife even thinks about taking her to the cleaners in revenge, I get to play opposing counsel. Won't that be fun?"
