Dear Witch in Green,
I've always wondered, do you have to study to be a witch? Do you choose your mentor, or are they the ones who pick their apprentices? Is there a test?
I studied a long time at the family forge, but when my younger brother stole was the one to inherit it, I was so pissed off I'll admit that it took the wind out of my sails. In hindsight I wish I hadn't waited so long to learn my father's trade instead! I was only with him a few months before I was sent here, but that short time was enough to teach me that leather is much easier to work with than iron.
Every time I look at the moon and remember that fleeting glimpse of you, I wonder if the stars might have aligned differently so that I had been sent to learn a different craft instead. Perhaps with you
I'd love to show you my handiwork sometime! And maybe share our perspectives as fellow students. Perhaps during your upcoming visit?
I still hold out hope that I may get to greet you in person this time.
It's okay that I haven't heard back
You don't have to reply
It's enough that I know my letters have reached you
Yours truly,
B.
