Oh hey, Scars, the second part of my Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego? fanfic trilogy1 arc has broken 500 views on AO3.
(Falling Hard, the first part, is not quite there yet with "only" 464 so far. The counts for multichapter entries like Scars are weird.)
1: Look, I know what I want my last, third part of the trilogy to be. I've basically plotted it out. I just need to convince my fucking brain to let me write it.
that there is no "This is what this place looked like in the year XXXX" Maps-Like on the internet, to help me remember what things fucking looked like back then when writing stories taking place Back Then.
Alternatively, it's deeply unfair that my memory... isn't.
Me: "I think I'm... done with this story? Finally?"
My brain: "Hey. Hey. You said the closest border to Nice was the Italian one. It's actually the one with Monaco. You're giving people wrong information."
Me: "... fuck." furious googling about protectorates and the history of the kingdom for 2 hours now ensues
When I've reached the "maybe this should be another, almost indistinguishable word" and "hm should I split this paragraph into two paragraphs maybe1" stage of rereads, I know I should2 stop.
Parents, for the love of everything holy, don't ever let your kids take the Latin studies option when they're at the impressionable, formative age of around 12.
Just say numquam when they ask.
They, and everyone that doesn't have to read their massive, overlong sentences that are actually five different sentences in a trench coat, but they all fit together thematically and flow so well, so why wouldn't you make them one single through-thought, will thank you.
In b4 everyone goes "where the fuck is Latin studies an actual option supplied by the school for 12 year old kids"
Me: starts to write a question on here to ask if a sentence is too purple

People have told me you need to actually advertise your works if you want people to find and read them, which seems very unfair, I must say. But since the muse still doesn't feel like writing anything new these days thanks to Festivus Interruptus draining the batteries completely, I might as well listen for once.
