What is a writer?
A miserable little pile of words!

Call me MP or Miz

Fiction attempted, with various levels of success.

Yes, I do need help, thank you for noticing.

that there is no "This is what this place looked like in the year XXXX" Maps-Like on the internet, to help me remember what things fucking looked like back then when writing stories taking place Back Then.

Alternatively, it's deeply unfair that my memory... isn't.

Me: "I think I'm... done with this story? Finally?"
My brain: "Hey. Hey. You said the closest border to Nice was the Italian one. It's actually the one with Monaco. You're giving people wrong information."
Me: "... fuck." furious googling about protectorates and the history of the kingdom for 2 hours now ensues

When I've reached the "maybe this should be another, almost indistinguishable word" and "hm should I split this paragraph into two paragraphs maybe1" stage of rereads, I know I should2 stop.

Parents, for the love of everything holy, don't ever let your kids take the Latin studies option when they're at the impressionable, formative age of around 12.
Just say numquam when they ask.

They, and everyone that doesn't have to read their massive, overlong sentences that are actually five different sentences in a trench coat, but they all fit together thematically and flow so well, so why wouldn't you make them one single through-thought, will thank you.

In b4 everyone goes "where the fuck is Latin studies an actual option supplied by the school for 12 year old kids"

Me: starts to write a question on here to ask if a sentence is too purple
Also me: Increases The Purple while typing it over
Me: "Ah."

Thank you for participating in this experience and playing Wall.

The latest story in my Where On Earth Is Carmen Sandiego? (1994) CarmIvy fanfic series is finally live on AO3, after... 3/4ths of a year spent in WIP Limbo.
Oof.

Tangled Carmine Threads 2.5 - Interlude: The Second First Date

Following the... tumultuous events of their first attempt at a date on Ivy's 19th birthday a couple of weeks ago, Carmen decides it's time for a much-needed do-over and invites Ivy for a romantic getaway, in her own unique way.

After all, what are the chances that lightning strikes twice?

(Also, if you want to read the preceding 2 parts first2, you can find them here Part 1 - Falling Hard and here Part 2 - Scars)

Scars, the followup to my earlier short Where On Earth Is Carmen Sandiego (1994) "What If" fanfic Falling Hard, which you should probably have read first, is now done and available on AO3 for your entertainment.

What happens when ACME detective Ivy goes back into the field after her horrendous accident?
She says she's ready, but is she really?
And what will Carmen do about it?

I hope you'll like it.

Sorry it uh, took so long. It kinda ran away from me.
Also, sorry for how horny the last chapter gets.

Welcome to my uh, writersona page on cohost.
Because there's a place for everything, and everything should be in its rightful place.

Call me Miz, or MP.

So... this is where I'll probably mostly be complaining about the process of writing, and my aptitude - or lack thereof - for it, as well as posting updates about the fiction I write, which will either be here on Cohost under the #MizWrites tag (as pinned on my profile), or stories that appear on AO3, because... well, that's the easiest place I've found to share my works with a larger audience.

Am I proud of everything I put out there?
Of course not. Nevertheless...

My brain is constantly plagued by too many half-formed but fascinating story ideas and vignettes. They haunt me, day in, day out.

Unfortunately for me, I have neither the time nor the skill, really, to do even one percent of them justice.

Unfortunately for you, however, dear reader, I decided to try and get some of my writing in front of other people's eyes anyway, in a possibly misguided attempt to at least do something about the 'lack of skill' part above by maybe getting some feedback, because it's really hard to get better in a void.

This is, unfortunately, one aspect where AO3 seems really lacking, since most people just... don't seem to interact with you-the-writer? Hence me also doing this Cohost page, I guess... which... we'll see if this will end up any better in the long run.
I'm open to suggestions on this front, of course.

Basically, it's the old "How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice!" gambit but, you know, with a live audience...
