Like, many people with I normally witness maintain a fair amount of empathy and reasoning suddenly having lost their marbles and acting like Cohost was suddenly overrun worse that Twitter. And doing the very things I said they'd do, the very things I've seen happen time and again on Twitter before it, and Tumblr before that; only I didn't expect it from them specifically.
Perpetuating harm in a blind rage to make their feelings known…
At this point there's like maybe 3, 4 people here I regularly actually enjoy posts from? Frequently? And one of them is Gravis who is Cohost's poster child for fun nerdy posts, so maybe 2 or 3 that aren't them.
The rest were always a mixed bag but they seemed cool and chill and safe and now I'm realizing that those things that did came with Terms and Conditions and at this point whether they apply to me or not I couldn't care less; the fact that people are willing to make exceptions for things they're uncomfortable with is enough to make me realize that perhaps I trusted too much, yet again.
Empathy shouldn't be a lightswitch, and understanding shouldn't be conditional. You can disagree with something whilst still being civil and kind.
