āLilah is maybe the internetās greatest posterā¦a unique and very funny sense of humorā¦her jokes are specific and experimental while still being accessible to a mainstream audienceā
ā The New York Review of Posts
āMen you may not like it butā¦[Lilahās posts are] what peak performance looks likeā
ā Virginia Woolf, author of Orlando
āIām a huge admirer of Lilahās posts to the point that I left my wifeā¦only then did I discover Lilah is gay and had also never heard of meā
ā Jonathan Safran Foer, an author I guess
"Lilah's posts were a huge source of relief during the development of DonPachi...it's no exaggeration to say Cave wouldn't exist without her posts"
ā Tsuneki Ikeda
I really liked it! This was my first time reading the Iliad but her translation flows really well, and the linguistic choices help hammer home how gay Achilles + Patroclus are, and also the general bitchiness of its male characters
I read her Odyssey last year and really liked that too - the decision to stick to iambic pentameter and the same number of lines as Homer meant it was really direct and had a driving rhythm to it that I enjoyed
Have you seen Troy (2004)? It's my favorite Brad Pitt movie loosely based on The Iliad.
I saw parts of it as a teenager, but Iām not sure Iāve ever sat down and watched the whole thing!
It has Achilles getting very upset about Patroclus, and Roger Ebert thought Brad Pitt brought too much complexity to the role. You'll go "Now that's what I call a choreographed fight scene!" at least once.
"Troy" is based on the epic poem The Iliad by Homer, according to the credits. Homer's estate should sue.
I love a catty Ebert review
