Can’t believe Talking Heads were this good from their debut single, which still manages to be one of their very best

Oh dang! Their first five studio albums (Talking Heads ‘77, More Songs About Buildings and Food, Fear of Music, Remain in Light, Speaking in Tongues) are all classics and just an unbelievably good five-album run across the board. I’m also a huge fan of their live album The Name of This Band is Talking Heads and the concert movie Stop Making Sense (which is so good!!!)
Seriously one of the best debut albums I've ever had the pleasure of listening to a thousand times. If not THE best. That's harder to qualify, but I think you're right about the first five. Wall to wall excellence.
Super agree, Talking Heads '77 is such a fantastic debut! They arrived fully formed, knowing exactly who they were and what they wanted to be. They were also a fantastic live band from the start!
