The Jesus and Mary Chain's debut album, Psychocandy, was groundbreaking in the way it welded heavy, confrontational guitar-fuzz distortion to the structure and sound of 1960s pop. It proved to be one of the most important influences on the emerging shoegaze scene a few years later and while the band did other great stuff they never made an album like it again.

Album opener "Just Like Honey" is my favorite song on the album and a great showcase for its approach. It's quietly lovely and loudly hazy all at once
