Only The Avengers could do a Christmas episode like this. It’s absolutely filled with wall-to-wall delights like a series of foreboding Christmas-themed dream sequences, psychics stealing state secrets, a Christmas party and spooky mansion both themed after the collected works of Charles Dickens, and a fucking hall-of-mirrors gunfight with Santa. And of course it’s got the show’s top-class costuming and production design. I’m reeling. Incredible stuff

Assassins! Undercover infiltration! A prison break! Inconsistent German accents! Scenes of men in suits doing the very mundane and boring seeming tasks of coordinating and managing a large international criminal organization!

My favorite part is the 10 minute stretch in the middle where Cathy, who has gone undercover in Intercrime and stolen the identity of a German assassin, suddenly has to become the defense lawyer for an Intercrime employee in an out-of-nowhere Intercrime courtroom drama
