i always viewed the "nothing is 100% original" as a way to encourage people to continue being creative without worrying heavily about where they drew inspiration from or if their idea is "stealing" from anywhere. its a needless worry, especially if the idea itself came from your mind and not copy pasted.
theft is definitely a real issue, but worrying if putting a skull belt on ur oc is stealing because your favorite cartoon character wears one is so annoyingly cumbersome lol
in the worldbuilding reddit you see these posts a lot. even people not wanting to "steal" from real history because they want to be original. which again is just annoying (also we dont know any other existence aside from what we live in now how can u even possibly create something completely original outside of our worldly knowledge to begin with?). just create what you like dude. if u want ur big green orc women to have giant tits and fat cocks but they're also insanely intelligent space invaders that raid elf planets to turn them all into sex slaves then do it

that being said. i can see how it's also used to undermine the creativity and ingenuity of artists in relation to ai. "nothings 100% original so why does it matter if it steals" lol
coined phrases like these are stupid just bc of how you can flip it to fit your narrative whether its good or bad.

dont know where im going with this thats all i had on my mind. i have pain and tremors in my left arm so bad rn that my hand wont stop shaking so i dont feel like typing anymore

I think a lot of the paranoia around originality comes from capitalism constantly finding new ways to undervalue art and creativity. Artists and creatives are left trying to find some way to secure some sense of value for their art (and livelihood in many cases) that's defined by our messed up capitalist system
