Like, you've got:

  • "It'll basically be the same, except we'll have overcome this one thing I dislike"
  • "Someday... finally... we'll be better than movies....finally we'll be respected...... shaking old man fist"
  • It's gonna be like star trek
  • Depressed indies
  • Shinji Mikami and Peter Molyneux, who are convinced AI is a real thing that will make games for you

me when i definitely care about games and know how to speak like a human being

trying to parse all the buzzwords here from Riot Games' CEO. the absolute gut certainty that a better version of the brain implant from the company that makes dogshit trucks will come. "fidelity" is her biggest concern. just. absolutely flabbergasted that someone thought this was an interesting addition to the conversation?

the only guess i have about where games will be in 25 years is that people not needing to reinvent the wheel every time they make something because of pre-made game engines have allowed more people to make things,

between now and 25 years from now there will be more tools that allow people to be more productive leading to more stuff

and maybe someone will make a head mounted display that doesn't give you a headache after a half hour
