I've been thinking about the beloved hit game, winner of GOTY2023 and GOTY2024, with 100% positive reviews on steam, the only video game ever to not have fishing in it - Cow Life Sim RPG.......and I've been asking myself, what if I could do all these fun cow activities in my actual mundane real life? Is that even possible??
I decided that the first cow skill I should try for myself is going to be Basket Weaving. In the game, you can Basket Weave every item you find, but can baskets also be created in real life? To answer this question, first I needed an item to weave, so I had to go Scavenge. I found this Scavenging location by the house wall where some vines had been cut down recently. A vine isn't something that I was familiar with from the game, but I figured it's kinda like a long stick so it should be fairly easy to weave at a low skill level.
I Scavenged a couple vines from the location, and got on to Weaving.
Amazingly enough, a Vine Basket started to take shape before my eyes!!
After some further Basket Weaving progress, the finished Vine Basket lay before me on the ground.
I picked it up in order to Behold it. Sure enough, it's A Basket made from a Vine. Success!!!
What I learned!!
🐮 Basket Weaving IRL is a lot like in the game. I was able to create the Basket from my Item!
🐮 Just like in the game, my Basket seems to have some amount of Storage capacity, although I didn't test exactly how much. Probably at least 5.
🐮 I got Scavenging xp, Basket Weaving xp, Experiencing xp from both the Weaving and the Beholding of the Vine and the finished Basket, and funnily enough also Experiencing xp from the Scavenging, which I hadn't expected.
🐮 Unlike in the game, I needed more than 1 Vine Item to make my Basket. I'm not sure how many I ended up using because I'm not the best at counting.
🐮 I had to soak the Vines in water before I was able to weave. Cows probably don't have to do this step because they are much stronger and more dexterous than I am.
🐮 I experienced the whole thing in a first person view that seems uncharacteristic, but I was able to work with it.
🐮 My mom thought my Basket was cool.
