starting a personal website is like buying a very hairy pet yak. any interaction with it will naturally tend towards yak shaving, and you never run out of yak shaving to do, you just eventually give up for now.
internal links on my blog posts (some of which use them!) have been broken for years because obviously-correct behavior like "headings should have ids so they can be linked to" is a property of the specific markdown renderer that Jekyll used and not the specific markdown renderer that my half assed hand rolled static site generator (which also emits Gemtext, despite the fact that my Gemini enjoyer era lasted like two months) uses. (markdown portability has never been real, commonmark was a lie and a scam, etc.)
