IS THAT A TRUCK?
A game of remembering.

The TRUCKMASTER secretly decides on a new definition for what a truck is.

Such as: "A truck is anything that's blue."

The remaining players nominate objects in the environment and ask the TRUCKMASTER whether they are trucks or not.

"Is a mailbox a truck?" (That one is, but not all of them.)
"Is that red truck a truck?" (No.)
"Is the sky a truck?" (Yes—for now.)

The player who can correctly identify the rule becomes the new TRUCKMASTER. Players once again forget what a truck is.

I used to play a similar but simpler game with girl scouts: everyone sits in a circle, and the leader grabs 2 sticks. they are the Arbiters of Truth (the truckmaster, if you please). they start, and everyone else follows suit, as they pass the sticks to someone in the ring, stating "I receive these sticks [crossed, uncrossed] and pass them [crossed, uncrossed]". the trick is that your words match the position of the kids legs, not the sticks, so holding teh sticks so they don't match your words, to begin with is key. Each time they pass the sticks, if they state the phrase, and you confirm or deny it, until someone figures out the trick :D

There’s a similar one I’ve seen around NY called Johnny Whoops—it’s a little hard to describe in text but there are lots of nightmare youtube videos about it. There’s a secret rule and a red herring rule, and you need to satisfy both of them.

my friend griffin taught me a game called crambo where one person says "i'm thinking of a word that rhymes with [word]" and the other person(s) will have to guess by saying "is it [definition/sentence describing their guess without actually using the word]"... like for example i could say "i'm thinking of a word that rhymes with red", and u might say "is it something u might spread butter on". the first person then has to figure out what the guess is and say either "yes, it is bread" or "no, it is not bread".

i knew a game like this called Psychiatrist. One person went off, everyone else decides on a rule, eg always answer yes if the asker uses your name. The person returns and asks questions and has to guess the rule

i didn't realize how much i missed these kinds of nonsense games, i remember a lot of that type of thing back when i was a kid in scouts but idk maybe it's because the ubiquity of smartphones in the past decade has skyrocketed anyway how many pink elephants are there?
