I never read the Thrawn books as a kid, but I feel like that character can't fully operate against anyone but the main trio of Luke, Han and Leia. In a way, Thrawn was kind of a "crit confirmation" to use some RPG jargon -- like, alright, you beat the evil space wizards and broke the Empire, but was that a fluke (Fluuke?) or can you do it again?

That being said, I hope Ezra takes more of a center stage in the fight against Thrawn going forwards. He was one of the better parts of Ahoska, and actually really love Thrawn as Captain Hook, with his own Peter Pan that he's unable to ever catch. Also, Thrawn has his own crocodile in the form of the space whales -- wait, is nuThrawn just Captain Hook?

I haven't re-read the original Thrawn trilogy (there are now three...) in years, but as far as I remember he's rarely in direct opposition to the Main Three. He tries to capture Luke once or twice, he sends assassins/kidnappers after Leia and he... is probably vaguely aware that Han exists?

The Main Three fight the Empire, and Thrawn is obviously leading the Empire, but they're sort of... rarely on the stage together.

Which is a problem, because Thrawn as a military leader is opposed by people like Ackbar, Wedge and Garm Bel Iblis - who are background characters in these books. We don't really get Thrawn as viewed by a character operating in the same military, leadership scale as he does. Everybody does their own thing.

Though again, I haven't read the trilogy in ages.
