I think I can imagine being a Disney executive seeing an early cut of Rogue One and scrambling to get Tony Gilroy in there to fix things up, but man, what a task that would be for this movie.
It's a real "baby's first" movie: baby's first Blade Runner, baby's first Ghost in the Shell, baby's first Akira, but without any of the style or substance of those films. "Are AI people?" is such a boring concept at this point that I would be thrilled to see a movie where the answer was "no," but alas The Creator had no such originality.

Incomprehensible setting, baffling characters with incongruous motivations, awful writing sandwiched by bad acting and a worse plot. The most interesting things in this movie (like a talking bomb with arms and legs) feels like they were made by accident because of how shit the rest of the movie is. I think the best compliment I can give it is that some scenes looked like Neil Blomkamp's style, but even in that comparison, Blomkamp had more coherent themes and better narratives -- even Chappie succeeded where this movie failed.

If you were thinking of going out to see The Creator do yourself a favor and stay home and watch Space Sweepers on Netflix instead.
