So last year I played Dark Souls 1 for the first time ever and fell in love with it. It was a mini-sub goal for a marathon twitch stream and it was supposed to be a one-off, come watch Serene die a lot in this really hard game. But instead I turned out to be pretty damn good at it. This was a great shock to me, as I am generally a turn-based RPG, strategy and puzzle game player, action games were quite out of my wheelhouse. So one stream turned into beating the entire thing on twitch, including the DLC (Artorias killed me a lot, but I killed Kalameet in one try!).
While playing it on stream, I also got the urge to stitch some fanart, combine a new love with an old one. Of course I adored the best NPCs in the series to date, Siegmeyer and Solaire and I just had to stitch Siegmeyer for myself. It was very difficult, I put a lot of metallic thread in him to give him that armour shine and metallic thread is a nightmare to work with. As is black aida, it's much harder to see the holes. And backstitch is my bane, it's definitely what I have less experience with and this one has so much of it.
Overall, I'm very happy with this. It's my favourite work to date, definitely one of my most ambitious (that I've actually finished, I have a much bigger work I've been doing on and off for literally years lol)
Well I made good on my promise to start posting my art. Maybe one day I'll finally get my commission sheets on this site too lol.
