To commemorate the big new GTA VI trailer, we dug up some press materials for GTA.... 1.
DMA Design sent out a ton of press material for the first Grand Theft Auto, but nobody really covered it because nobody knew what the hell Grand Theft Auto was. But there's a LOT of stuff, including the terrible logo above. They also included a photo of the original design team, which I don't think anyone published!
This is one of the reasons we love collecting press materials, because it gives us insight into how these games were marketed, in some cases before they were big marketable IPs that could break the internet just by dropping a trailer. We ended up sending this material to Danny O'Dwyer to use in Noclip's documentary about the history of Rockstar, which is the sort of thing we hope the Video Game History Foundation can enable.
