One of my favorite games as a kid was the arcade game Rampage. It looks like this. You control a human turned monster who smashes the town with the goal of leveling every building. Various violent impediments try to stop you from some dynamite hidden in a building to tanks and ww2 bombers. It’s fun, quirky, and not very deep. Almost every level has the same premise.
I’d like to see the game flip-flopped so you’re the mayor of the same town and you have a little bit of time to build up towers with defenses and then you get to have a budget for sending in the tanks and so on. Could even be multiplayer with one person controlling the monster and the other acting as the mayor.
