honestly I feel like the secret sauce of cohost's plural community isn't just that it's chill and relatively free of discourse, but that cohost itself is not solely about plurality, and not solely used by plurals. I think there's something really valuable in how you'll just casually find someone talking about their love for a game or their plans for a garden and they'll also just happen to be plural. similarly, there's something really valuable in how plural folks and friendly singlets just casually mingle on this site without blinking an eye.

we are allowed to just be, like anyone else. we do not have to be an isolated subculture; we are part of the world.

no this is actually really true. cohost is the first plural space i’ve ever gotten into, and that’s partially because it felt so much easier to dip my toes in without compromising on the stuff i usually wanted to post about and partially because my plurality has become a more significant part of my life (although one could easily have caused the other)

i think another thing that helps though is the design of the multi-page system and how it's not wrought with bullshit like tumblr's sideblogs or just literally multiple accounts with different logins like twitter. one of my fictives can just have a splatoon page she posts on once in a blue moon, and doesn't have to faff about with remembering a separate login or any arcane limitations and it's great, and it means a lot more ability to be Casual abt existing separately

(still wish we could silence or muffle tags per-page rather than per-account though)

I didn't know that plurality was a much bigger thing than shitty media portrayals of Dissociative Identity Disorder until I joined this website and I appreciate the opportunity to get less ignorant
