Okay, it's late in the day cohost-wise and here's a risky question to ask:

Any trans folks on here have any experience with the LoSpec site and/or community?

I've been warned away from there in the past but I can't recall who warned me so I'm looking for a 2nd opinion....

in reply to @MxAshlynn's post:

no idea what the community around it is like nowadays but the person behind the site is pro generative ai, also think i remember some 'gatekeepy-ness' but don't remember in what way exactly

I have posted a few pieces here and there and it went OK, although my art isn't incredibly visibly trans in itself (I do have my pronouns in my profile though). I didn't interact with the community at all beyond that. If you'd like, I might have an alternative?

I've really been enjoying Cara!!

https://cara.app/login or if you want to see what it looks like without creating an account first my profile is https://cara.app/queerofswords

In no particular order:

It is still in Beta so sometimes a little rough around the edges, but it's definitely a platform for artists, by artists, and so there's a real strong sense of community there... although it's also kinda... polished sometimes? A lot of Industry Professionals(tm) are there. DAs, Charadesigners, etc. People who work for Marvel, etc. I blocked so many of them because I can't stand their designs :D

There are also really interesting artists and I'm happy to rec a few, but it's definitely less unhinged than cohost and quite frankly not really "queer as in fuck you" or politically radical. I would say I do feel safe as a trans artist on Cara and I trust in the vision of the founder. I've also had good experiences reaching out to the moderation team about reporting people, etc.

There are a lot of pixel artists, even though you do need to upscale your work something silly for it to look good if you work with smaller canvas.

There are features on Cara I've never seen anywhere else and that I really love, such as the ability to have a separate portfolio from my timeline (so nobody has to trudge through my reblogs to find my actual art).

The timeline itself is separated in two tabs, one is your "following" and the other is a "home" tab. You can customize the percentage of content you see from the people you follow, the people they follow, and the whole platform, as well as whether you want to see reblogs or not on that Home tab.

I really love Cara!!
