
I'm not sure if my next game after Yurivania 3 will be another platformer or not, but I'd really like to build something with Hauntology's Platformer+ plugin.
It's available on Itch but the most up-to-date version is on GitHub.
I've already implemented a few of these features myself but I'm under the impression they've done a more polished job on these than I have. There's a lot to work with!
One more thing that tempts me to switch to GB Studio 3....
On the subject of game coding and architecture, I enjoyed this article on some potential shortcomings of Entity Component Systems and some potential solutions, by Sander Mertens, the developer of Flecs.

But I've spent the past checks watch 5 years looking for an engine/framework that targets modern hardware and suits me. So far haven't found anything that's really clicked.
I wonder if I've just become too much of a perfectionist about this stuff?
I don't think of myself as being interested in retro game dev; I'm not super into gaming nostalgia. I didn't have any interest in the GameBoy before picking up GB Studio....
But it might be that I'd just be happier developing for obsolete consoles. They seem to have the magic mixture of first-class 2D and catering to a programmer mindset
