despite all the (gestures at your timeline) that's been going on lately I'm still way happier here than I ever was on birdsite.
people here overall seem to be a lot more articulate, even disregarding the longer post sizes. There's no pointless arguments about whether gays/lesbians can be bi (they can). I have yet to see a single instance of bigotry on Cohost, and to date I have heard exactly one account of such a thing - which was swiftly dealt with. even though I have seen a few people I would consider reprehensible to some degree here, I have never felt the want or need to sling shit at anyone here like I often did on twitter. Of these few people I have considered reprehensible, I have at the very least been able to consistently understand where they're coming from. that's important to me.
while I certainly don't agree with all of their decisions, the people running and moderating cohost have shown themselves to be vastly more competent, accountable, and approachable than any other website I have ever used. the fact that A.S.S.C. does not seek to appease the great old one of Infinite Growth has allowed it to develop cohost with a clear vision in mind that is not "make all of the money." I think this place has a lot of potential.
cohost: even when it's bad, everything else is worse
