all shit. buying a laptop? get a refurbished ThinkPad, Latitude, or EliteBook. desktop? build your own. if you don't need powerful dedicated graphics or don't wanna spend more than like $200, snag an old ThinkCentre or OptiPlex, but that proprietary PSU is gonna be a pain in the ass. the business laptop might be a bit heavier but it also won't break in a year and a half, and when it does you can fix it yourself in a few minutes. do not buy a gaming laptop.

granted, portability is worth something, but the real issue w/gaming laptops is that the motherboard will be fried inside of three years
What's portability worth when it comes to playing games that need expensive hardware? If you're out and about, play less intensive games
maybe you travel a lot, maybe you still go to LAN parties, maybe you just don't have space for a desktop, iunno. in almost all of these cases, imo, an external GPU enclosure would be a much better choice.
