The two things about the depths of his racism that I always think about is that he managed to be so racist in his communiques to fellow authors that Robert E. Howard, dude who personally believed in some quite fucked up Might Makes Right-proto-fascist bullshit, went "Man, chill."

That and the fact that he wrote a story that was racist against Spaniards. Not, like, Spanish-speaking people in general, but people from Spain in particular.
