Alms by Re: is some of the best electronic/industrial music I've ever listened to. It's one of the best albums I've ever listened to. On some days it's definitely top five for me. At time of writing, it has one hundred and seventy eight views on YouTube.
There are some absolutely breathtaking soundscapes on this record. Each track flows together to create an incredible, perfectly cohesive whole. There are no low points. The last track, Home Security, is fucking monstrous. I would link directly to it, but I don't want to spoil it. The buildup is important.
These guys only ever recorded two albums. Mnant is an interesting compilation of experiments, but it pales in comparison to the sheer force of Alms. Recorded and assembled during the war on terror, Alms is a contemporary period piece. It speaks volumes without words, save for ten sampled syllables on On Golden Pond. It is some of the most powerful and provocative music I've ever heard in my life.
I snagged this record from a seller on Discogs, sound unheard, having only ever listened to Alms and kinda digging it. I think it was six dollars. A bargain for a genuinely incredible piece of art.
I'd appreciate it if you gave it a listen. If you'd like, you can buy it here.
