even today it's still so funny to me that Linux will happily run on a 15 year old dual core cpu, 4gb of ram, and the shittiest hard disk you can find and be completely usable, but if you try and run Windows on anything with less than four threads, 8 gig of ram, and an ssd, it'll scream and cry and grind to a halt like a pickup truck kissing a bollard. great software guys.

I have this wretched old Thinkpad that runs NetBSD as an emergency doohickey and I can actually load like, modern websites under Firefox on it. The thing only has a gig of ram!
shit, my dad's old P3 laptop with a gig of memory still ran as a fine Pandora player until a couple of years ago. the fuck are they feeding the poor NT kernel?
