mmm lemme think. iirc he was running Pop OS and for some reason, apt wanted to remove the desktop environment metapackage before installing steam. this is the sort of weirdness you get sometimes when you don't update a debian based distro before installing more stuff.
oh i think also after that he switched to manjaro and Broke Everything by installing a bunch of random garbage from the AUR or something like that
