it's extremely funny to me that every iteration of every desktop environment for both major OSes is maybe 25% as functional as Xfce, which is basically a big hobby project for Linux dweebs. If Desktop Linux™ had even a quarter of the funding that, say, the Windows team does, it would probably take over the world inside of five years.
Windows is legacy software. Aside from "running Windows software", I can barely think of a single thing it does right, let alone as well as Linux. Mac OS's potential for greatness will never be realized until Apple stops trying to fully babyproof it.
